Why We Do It.

Why do photographers, actors, video artists, musicians, artists and film makers do what we do?

I can't speak for all of my colleagues but I can speak for many I know as well as myself.

We do it because we are retrospective. We do it because we love recording time, telling a story, documenting history.

We do it because it's the only thing we can think of that we like. We do it because as with any passion, without it, we are incomplete.

Often there's no travel and the pay is lousy but we continue to do it.

...but sometimes, just sometimes, we get to travel and we get paid well doing it, and free food, that's good too.

A few words about Michael Jackson

I wasn't going to write anything because I didn't know what to write. I actually opened my journal editor last night, wrote a couple of words then closed it. I don't think I can let this, my creative journal go without a few words on the inspiration he gave me and countless others.

Growing up listening and watching MJ was amazing. He was an incredible artist and a perfectionist creatively. His fans crossed and crosses all races, nationality, genders, and generations.

Whenever I create a project I hold dear I strive for perfection and try to go that extra mile to make it as perfect as possible. I know growing up watching his work, studying his music and his videos had a lot to do with that. He was truly a creative genius and an incredible source of inspiration.

Japan - Photography - Video

The lady in my life will tell you, I have been a bit pretty indecisive lately when it comes to my next round of projects.  Video? Photography? People? Places? Decisions, decisions.  Well, Tokyo based photographer Samuel Cockedey has combined all and I'm envious.  Check out this amazing time-lapse of Shinjuku (Tokyo), Japan.
